War Books Nonfiction

Books you’d recommend to someone who liked Water for Elephants?
I’m female at 18 years. I’m actually not much of a reader. If it’s a really great book like Water for Elephants, though, I have trouble putting it down. I like my stories to have a little romance included. Please don’t suggest nonfiction or war related books. Thanks!
You’re probably looking for books with innovative plots that move rather quickly then, right? You’d probably like The Time Traveler’s Wife, by Audrey Niffenegger, (which is just what it sounds like) about a woman whose husband was born with a condition where he spontaneously travels forward and backward in time.
The Memory Keeper’s Daughter, by Kim Edwards, is another good book. It’s about a doctor forced by a blizzard to deliver his own twins. His son, born first, is healthy, but his daughter has Down’s syndrome. To protect his wife, he asks his nurse to take the baby away to an institution and never to reveal the secret, but the nurse raises the child herself.
Even though you said don’t suggest nonfiction, I’m still going to put The Glass Castle: A Memoir, by Jeannette Walls, out there for you. I normally can’t sit through an autobiography for the life of me, but this one was seriously amazing. It’s the true story of Jeannette’s life growing up, and even though her life was terrible, it’s not some victim sobfest. It’s actually really good- Even if you’re not into nonfiction, you should at least find a preview and check it out.
(loved that book, by the way, it was fabulous)
